This item consists of copies of correspondence, consultations, and minutes cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. . It is the first in a series of eleven items.

The item concerns naval hostilities between Charrack and Mogoo, and the shaikhs’ explanation of events. The item also contains Hennell’s instructions to Captain William Lowe, commanding the Indian Naval Squadron in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , about demanding the restitution of the Mogoo boats captured by Charrack.
