The translations of correspondence between officials in the Persian and Russian governments. This document contains:

  • Correspondence between the Prince Royal of Persia [Iran], Abbas Meerza [Crown Prince of Persia, 'Abbās Mirza Qājār], and the Russian envoy to Persia, Major General Prince Minchikoff [Prince Aleksandr Sergeevich Menshikov]
  • Correspondence between the Vizier to the Prince Royal, the Kayim Makam [Mirza Abū al-Qāsim Farāhānī, Qāʾim-Maqām], and Prince Minchikoff
  • A letter from Emperor Nicholas of Russia to Abbas Meerza
  • A letter from the Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Count Karl Robert Nesselrode, to the Persian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Meeza Abul Hassan Khan [Mirza Abū al-Ḥasan Khan Shīrāzī].

These communications concern the ongoing frontier dispute between Russia and Persia, detailing reported tensions on the frontier between Russia and Persia, and indicating the desire of the Russian Government to settle the frontier peacefully.

This document was originally enclosed in the letter of HM Chargé d’Affaires to Persia, Henry Willock, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the East India Company of 23 July 1826 (IOR/L/PS/9/70/99).
