Venera Court Martial, on the following charge :
" Deserting the Service "

The sentence was duly carried out at 6.30 a.m. on the 19th November, 1917.—A-1637.
. 833. ! a) The attention of all concerned is drawn to the instructions contained in
J he training and employment of Bombers,” pages 14, 15, 16. 17 and 18, as regards
precautions to be taken against accidents during instruction, •
(b) Attention is also drawn to General Routine Order, No. 1713, of 1916.-—A-1772.
834. To General Routine Order No. 1690, of 1916, as amended by General
Routine Order No. 593, of 1917, add

835. In consequence of the prevalence of pneumonia and bronchitis among
Indian troops and followers, it is important that such men should be warmly clad
between sunset and sunrise.—A-1172[32. (
836. List No. 48 of Appointments, Promotions, etc., has been issued to those
concerned.
837. It has come to notice that men proceeding on leave, are in the habit of
drawing the whole amount of pay to which by their pay books they are shown to be
entitled before leaving, and thus money which has been brought out to this country is
taken back to India.
Such payments are to be restricted to the lowest possible limits. A-1397.
838. The powers of the Officers enumerated below, when dealing with offences
committed by natives of the country, are limited as shown in this order and all previous
orders on the subject are hereby cancelled :—
Assistant Political Officer.
(1) Those who have exercised the powers of a first-class magistrate in India
or Egypt, or who have already exercised such powers for not less than 12
months whilst serving in the Political Department in the occupied
territories.
Powers of punishment : —
Rigorous Imprisonment up to 2 years.
Fine 1,000 Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. .
30 Lashes.
(2) Assistant Political Officers other than those mentioned in (1).
