REGATTA.
A Regatta will be held on Saturday, August 11th. at 5 p.m., at General Headquarters,
for British and Indian Troops. Programme as follows
Open Handicap Launch Race—open to crew of any motor launch.
Gufa Race—Officers—go as you please.
Gufa Race—other ranks.
Officers Dinghy Race—pairs.
Pontoon Race.
Surf-boat Race—Officers.
Tilting Competition—with mops and on rafts—other ranks.
Greasy Pole—post entries—other ranks.
The Gufa? will be about 8 feet in diameter. For the Gufa Race there is no
restriction to the number of crew in each Gufa.
The Officers’ Dinghy Race is for pair oars (not sculling), ladies to steer.
Pontoon Race—six oars per pontoon and a coxswain.
In the Surf-boat Race two men stand on a raff and are towed by a motor launch.
The course, except for Gufa, Surf-boat and Launch races, is 300 yards upstream,
round a buoy, and 250 yards downstream. Pontoons, gufas, dinghies, and raft
will be supplied by the Committee, also launches for surf-boat race.
If sufficient entries are received there will be a second tilting competition for
Officers. No entrance fee. Entries to Capt. Ogilvie Forbes, A.D.C., G.H.Q., by August
1st For the Gufa Races full particulars as to number of crews are required. Full
programme and conditions will be published in due course.
