RePAT cases, whether British or Indian perSnnel (including civilians and followers)
admitted as dangerously wounded or dangerously ill, or cases of wounds or sickness
developing from slight into dangerous, will be reported as they occur.
A report will be sent every Wednesday showing the progress made by each British
Officer since he was reported as dangerously ill, or since the last weekly progress report
(as the case may be) so long as the officer may remain in the Hospital.
In the case of British other ranks, a weekly report will be rendered of all men
remaining on the dangerously wounded or dangerously ill list, the following certificate
being added :—
“All others no longer dangerously ill and progressing favourably.”
Indian personnel having once appeared on the dangerously ill list, no further
progress reports are required.
In weekly progress reports medical officers will report any transfers to another
Hospital of patients on the dangerously wounded or dangerously ill list, stating whether
such patients on transfer are still dangerously wounded or dangerously ill.
5. The returns prescribed for rendition in paragraphs 3, 4 and 5 above, will be
sent by the quickest possible means, where necessary by telegraph, addressed to
“Albocado Basrah.”
Confirmation.—Confirmation copies of all telegrams will be despatched weekly
by post. All telephone messages will be confirmed in writing as soon as possible.
Cancellation.—Para. II. (B) Annexure to F.R.O. No. 1328, dated 4th August,
1915, and F.R.O. No. 973, dated 21st June, 1916, are hereby cancelled.

MESSAGES
1589. Hospital Returns (W.S.M. Messages).
1. Officers Commanding all stationary and general hospitals will cable, daily if
necessary, to “ Retaxandum, London,” repeating to “ Casualties, Simla,” all reports of
first admissions of British personnel to their hospital for wounds, serious accidents and
serious diseases, such as enteric fever, pneumonia, etc.
2. Admissions for venereal diseases or for minor ailments must not be included.
3. Cables should state the degree of wound, whether dangerous, severe, or slight;
also the name of the disease, and whether dangerous or serious. No further particulars
will be given.
4. Transfers from one hospital to another will not be included in these cables.
5. The cable will begin with the letters " W.S.M.” at the commencement of the
text of the message. Code words should be used as shewn below.
6. A copy of every cable will be sent by post to the A.A.G., 3rd Echelon, G.H.Q.,
Basrah.
7. It must be clearly understood that the rendition of the prescribed returns to
A.A.G., 3rd Echleon, and other authorities is in no way affected by the despatch of
these cables.
8. Cables will be framed as follows (any unnecessary paragraphs being eliminated.)
i. Address " Retaxandum, London.” “ Casualties, Simla.”
ii. W.S.M.
iii. Reference number of cable and date.
iv. Following dangerously wounded (Code word " Tramppick).” Unit, number,
name and rank (except in case of Private), initials.
v. Following severely wounded (Code word “ Tranation.”) Unit, number,
etc., as above.
vi. Following slightly wounded (Code word " Tranatote.”) Unit, number, etc.,
as above.
vii. Following dangerously ill (Code word "Ideenstrom") nature of disease (enteric,
pneumonia, as the case may be). Unit, number, etc., as above.
vui. Seriously ill (Code word “ ideismo ”), nature of disease, unit, number, etc.,
as above.
ix. Addressed Retaxandum,” repeated “ Casualties.”
