13. The following trade officials arrived at Tehran on the 9th September from Baku,
to join Khostaria’s organisation :—

14. Except for occasional anti-British articles in the newspapers relating to the
Irak ulama, agitation on this subject during the past week has been quiescent. No
news has been received as to the progress of negotiations between Emir Feisal and the
ulama.
15. Examples of anti-British articles appearing in the local press are given in the
appendix.*
Sultanabad.
16. A telephone line has been constructed from Sultanabad to Hamadan by a
private company composed of several Tehran merchants. The line is working
satisfactorily, the charge being 1 kran per minute.
Isfahan.
17. The War Minister arrived at Isfahan on the 13th September from Tehran. He
has selected a detachment, about 300 strong, with two machine guns, to proceed to
Shushtar by the Bakhtiari road, leaving Isfahan on the 18th September. The command
of this detachment has been given to Colonel Bakir Khan.
18. The “ Ishtamayun” party in Isfahan has opened a library and reading room,
named “ Sitareh Subh ” (the “.Morning Star”). M. Tardov, the Russian consul,
supplies Russian newspapers and books to the library free of charge, and himself
frequently visits the library in the evenings.
