Death of His Excellency the Sheikh of Kuwait’s
second cousin Sheikh Salman al Hamud al Subah.
Sir,
I have the honour to report that on Wednesday night
Sheikh Salman al Hamud one of the most prominent members
of the Al Subah ruling family of Kuwait, died in the
Maud Hospital at Basra. He was buried on Thursday at
dawn in the Zubalr Cemetery.
2. Sheikh ^alman had been ailing internally for some
weeks and was with difficulty persuaded to go to Basra
for an X-Ray examination and a possible operation.
3. ^he probable cause of death was rupture of the
walls of the stomach following on an ulcer, his liver
was said to be in a diseased condition also.
4. Sheikh Salman’s death has cast a gloom over Kuwait
as he was not only popular, but one of the most
prominent of the local "pillars of state".
5. I suggest it would not come amiss if you could
see your way to write the Sheikh a short letter of
condolence.
