! Ali Khan, Amir-Nizam, as Governor to the Province of Kirman, notwithstanding that
y it is already two weeks that this exalted personage has been nominated, the appoint-
Iment has been solemnized, the Commission issued, the robe of office granted ; and his
llieutenant has already gone, while the ex-Governor has left Kirman, and is on his
hvay back.

significance and small reputation, caused such a commotion in the

ports
that we have not yet succeeded in recovering the effects, notwithstanding that the
demand for his call was based on some sort of document and promise, and therefore

rank as the Amir-Nizam, then we must forsake altogether the Provinces of Kirman
and Baluchistan.
As His Imperial Majesty, our august Master, will never consent to such a
proposal, we can only conclude that, in making it, Colonel Picot has aimed to create
I ill-feeling and reserve on both sides.
Please let me know Lord Salisbury’s answer as soon as possible.
