About this record

Content

Letter and Enclosures to HM Secretary of State for India, dated 10 October 1871.

The Despatch concerns a prohibition by the Persian Government on the export and storage of grain and provisions, as a result of a grain shortage. The correspondence shows that British officials felt that the measure was likely to deter the import of provisions into the country.

The papers include a letter from the Persian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Enclosures are dated 8 July - 27 September 1871.
