Sir,
I am directed by Mr. Secretary Amery to refer to
your letter No. P.3711 of the 27th of October in regard
to the proposed revision of the treaty between His
Majesty’s Government and Ibn Sa’ud, and to transmit to
you, for the consideration of the Earl of Birkenhead, the
enclosed draft of a letter of instructions to Mr. Jordan
which, it is proposed, should accompany the draft revised
treaty to which the Earl of Birkenhead’s concurrence was
given in the letter under reference.
2. These instructions are based upon the
recommendations of the various inter-departmental confer
ences on the subject and of the matters dealt with therein,
and it seems necessary to comment further only upon the
question of Wahabi aggression in the principalities of the
