On looking through my records I cannot find (vide
if I
paragraph 4 of the Political Agreement regarding sdatar) that any
Chief Local Representative has been specifically nominated by
Petroleum Concessions Limited and approved of by His Majesty’s
Government. Mr. Packer ( vide India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. letter No.
P.Z.4089/36 dated the 17th June 1936 to Petroleum Concessions
Limited, London, — copy sent to the Government of India, Bushire
and Bahrain under India-Office printed letter No. P.Z.4089/36
dated the 20th June 1936) was accepted by His Majesty’s Govern
ment as General Manager . Petroleum Concessions Limited, for all
their activities in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .
2 . Though in Kuwait and Bahrain the posts of Chief Local
Representative and Manager are held by different individuals there
do not seem to be any reasons against, and various arguments of
administrative convenience for, having the posts held by the same
individual in the case of Petroleum Concessions Limited.
