A translation of a letter from the Ameen ool Dowleh [‘Abdāllah Khān Amīn al-Dawlah, Prime Minister of Persia], to the East India Company Envoy to Persia [Iran], Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, undated.

The letter concerns the repayment of 200,000 tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value. previously paid to the Prince [‘Abbās Mīrzā A title of honour originally applied to princes, later to military leaders, and later still to secretaries, chieftains, and other ‘gentlemen’. Qājār, Crown Prince of Persia] in exchange for the abrogation of the third and fourth articles of the Definitive Treaty. The Ameen ool Dowleh states that he has discussed the matter with the Kaim Mukam [ Mīrzā A title of honour originally applied to princes, later to military leaders, and later still to secretaries, chieftains, and other ‘gentlemen’. Abū al-Qāsim Farāhānī Qā’im-Maqām, Vizier to the Crown Prince of Persia] who denied sending the message described by Macdonald Kinneir (see IOR/L/PS/9/71/279).

This document was originally enclosed, numbered 8 in dispatch No. 110, in Macdonald Kinneir’s dispatch No. 36 to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping.
