Dispatch No. 36 from the East India Company Envoy to Persia [Iran], Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company, sent from Tabreez [Tabriz] and dated 5 October 1828.

Macdonald Kinneir forwards various correspondence to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. (catalogued as IOR/L/PS/9/71/263-296). The letter also covers: the movements of the Count of Erivan [Yerevan] [General Ivan Fyodorovich Paskevich-Erivansky, Governor-General of Georgia]; the state of affairs in eastern Persia, in particular a rebellion in Kermaun [Kerman]; and Macdonald Kinneir’s efforts to secure the evacuation of Russian troops from Khoie [Khoy].
