Translation of the substance of a letter from the Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. of Erivan, Hoossein Khan [ Sardar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. of Iravan or Yerevan, Ḥusayn Qulī Khan Qājār], to the Kayim Makam [ Mīrzā A title of honour originally applied to princes, later to military leaders, and later still to secretaries, chieftains, and other ‘gentlemen’. Abū al-Qāsim Farāhānī, Qā'im-Maqām], the Vizier of the Crown Prince of Persia [Iran]. In the letter, the Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. of Erivan gives instructions to the Kayim Makam regarding reinforcements and their provisions, and details the supplies available to his forces.
This document was originally enclosed in the letter of the East India Company Envoy to Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the East India Company of 14 May 1827 (IOR/L/PS/9/70/227).
