A table displaying the number and estimated tonnage of ships from Persian [Iranian] ports trading with Muscat and the Gulf.
The table was sent by Ephraim Stannus, Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , to Henry Willock, HM Chargé d’Affaires in Persia, as part of a report on trade in the Gulf (IOR/L/PS/9/69/191).
The report was enclosed in Willock’s letter to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping.
