A translation of an official note from the Umeen ud Dowlut [‘Abdullāh Khān Amīn al-Dawlah], Second Minister of Persia [Iran], to Henry Willock, HM Chargé d’Affaires in Persia, dated 17 March 1824.
The note denies that the Shah [Fath-‘Ali Shāh Qājār] and Prince Royal [‘Abbās Mīrzā A title of honour originally applied to princes, later to military leaders, and later still to secretaries, chieftains, and other ‘gentlemen’. , Crown Prince] requested Willock’s dismissal, and affirms that Willock should remain in Persia representing HM Government.
The note was enclosed in Willock’s letter to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company dated 14 April 1824 (IOR/L/PS/9/69/174).
