Copy of a letter from HM Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Persia [Iran], Sir Gore Ouseley, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the East India Company. The letter announces Ouseley’s arrival at Bombay [Mumbai], and gives an account of his journey and the news he has received from Persia prior to beginning his journey from Bombay to Tehran.

The letter was sent in January 1811 and received on 1 July 1811.
