A copy of a letter from Captain John Malcolm, former Envoy of the Supreme Government of India to Persia [Iran] to Lieutenant Charles Pasley, sent from Bombay [Mumbai] and dated 30 October 1802, concerning the death in Bombay of the Persian Ambassador to India [Hājī Muhammad Khalīl Khān Qazvīnī]. The letter directs Pasley to accompany the Ambassador's body to Nejef [Najaf] and contains instructions relating to this mission.
The letter was enclosed in Malcolm's letter to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company dated 16 November 1802.
