A copy of a letter from Captain John Malcolm, Envoy of the Supreme Government of India to Persia [Iran], to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company, sent from a camp near Isfahaun [Eṣfahān] and dated 26 September 1800. The letter reports: Malcolm's arrival and reception in Isfahaun; the activities of Zumaun Shah [Zamān Shāh Durrāni] of Afghanistan; and a supposed agreement between the King [Shah] of Persia [Fath-'Ali Shāh Qājār] and Zamaun Shah.
