About this record

Content: A copy of a memorandum on trade between Great Britain and Persia [Iran], and competition from trade between Russia and Persia, by Lieutenant William Bruce, Acting Resident at Bushire [Būshehr]. The memorandum was enclosed in a letter from Sir Harford Jones, British Envoy Extraordinary to Persia, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company of 13 April 1809, and was received via James Justinian Morier on 5 December 1809.
