The letter is acknowledging a communication from the Resident dated 12 September 1816 and instructing Bruce to open all consignments of military stores and check them immediately against the invoices.

Also enclosed is a copy of a letter from Edward Hutchins Bellasis, Secretary to the Military Board, to Francis Warden, 13 November 1816, forwarding the same instructions from the Military Board.
