The letter and its enclosure relates to the harassment and insults directed at the British Agent Hajjī Yaqoob in Sharjah in 1853. The letter is a covering letter, enclosing an extract of paragraph 46 of letter no.13 (folio 277) from the Honourable Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. , dated 27 April 1854, in which it is stated that the reparations obtained from both Sooltan bin Suggur [Sultan bin Saqr], the chief of Sharjah, and the Wahabee [ Wahhābī A follower of the Islamic reform movement known as Wahhabism; also used to refer to the people and territories ruled by the Al-Saud family. ] chief [Fayṣal ibn Turki Āl Sa‘ūd] for the insults directed at the British Agent in Sharjah, are satisfactory, and indicate a desire on the behalf of both men to remain on good terms with the Government.
