Content

In this letter Samuel Manesty informs Edward Galley of the movements of the Scorpion, commanded by Captain Charles Pickett. Manesty explains that he was placed in temporary charge of the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. at Bussora [Basra] in November 1784, and that he has since been appointed to manage the Honourable Company's concerns at that place.
