This file consists of a letter concerning the political situation in Muscat that was sent to the Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in Bushire by Major Claude Edward Bremner, Britain's Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. and Consul in Muscat.

The letter focuses on the relationship between British authorities and the Sultan of Muscat and Oman, Said bin Taimur [Sa‘id bin Taymur], and includes a discussion of the Sultan's financial arrangements, political intentions and attitude towards Britain.
