Summary of events.
Th ^°;JVv F< r; ? n WaS informed of the Admiralty’s order to Admiral Calthorpe that he should
instruct the lurk 1S h Government to wire orders to A. G. Ihsom regarding the Catter’s evacuation of
Ihe Secretary, W. O., detailed certain extensive movements of troops to take place between India and
Salonika and Mesopotamia, respectively.
Intelligence regarding the recent in«uguration of a Republican Govern nent in North Caucasus by the
Turks was received from the G. O. C., Force “ D.” 1
The G. O. C., Force “ D,” stated that he was willing to release certain motor lighters and was making
arrangements accordingly. b
The G. O. C., Force <e D,” was notified that sanction was given to a provisional supplementary War
Establishment for the Work Directorate, E. and M. Section, Agricultural Engineering Rraneh.
The D. A. G., 3rd Echelon, Basrah, forwarded the requirements for medical personnel

Political Resident
A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency.

The G. O. C., Force “ D,” asked certain question with reference to the subject of the M. T. reinforcements
which could be made available in connection with the occupation of Baku.
The G. O. C., Force “ D,” was directed to occupy Baku as soon as possible and informed that the W. 0.
concurred in arrangements he proposed.
The Secretary, W. 0., intimated that the estimates of the G. 0. C., Force “ D,” regarding the garrison
required for Mesopotamia until the conclusion of peace were accepted for immediate purposes and he
asked the G. 0. C. to give the approximate ration strength of each estimate.
