This cancels previous demands and assumes reinforcements will arrive by
January 1st. It allows for 873 time-expired men by January 1st. New
construction companies numbers 122, 123 and 124, are included in above
figures. Eor numbers required for these companies see my R-3286 (3186 P)
October 18th (Dy. No. 83119). This demand includes reinforcements required
for construction companies already in Mesopotamia. Training camps from
which they should he supplied will be notified as soon as information received
from Railways. Maintenance men should be supplied proportionately from
all camps, reference my letter, October 15th, 27522-5—R-3. Survey parties
demanded in my telegram October 18th (Dy. No. 84837) R-3241 will count
against this demand, Survey khalasis Used by the British officials to refer to a non-European labourer, especially one employed on a ship. ranking as labourers. Demand for
signallers being verified.
Railways have not yet replied to yourletter, October 9th, 198M.K. (Dy.
No. 81824) regarding trade categories. Categories urgently required are
boilermakers, assistants Boilermaker, chargemen, boilermaker shed chargemen,
fitter shop chargemen, trimmer chargemen, oil and stationary, engine drivers,
carpenter, shop foremen.
Last four boats for which credit given, Barela arrived October 24th>
Barjora, October 25th, Elephantct) October 26t>h, Bankura^ October 28th. No
credit given for any reinforcements en route.
