Fo^effectiye occupation of Baku I consider minimum garrison to be 1.500
rifles. British troops can be sent there as soon as ready.
, My Battalions on Caspian Littoral are at present much below strength,
and it will take another 3 weeks before reinforcements reach their units though
they left railhead a month ago. 8
The 3 battalions at Krasoovodsk, Reslit, and Enzeli total about 1,500 strong
and these battalions can be despatched at once with 39th Infantry Briffad”
Headquarters now at Enzeli, if the Krasnovodsk Battalion can be spared.

Lara. 1 % Delivery will take place before end of December.

Lara. 2. Now at Bombay being loaded for Basra are 20 Mallet engines
received ex-Erankburn, no advice received of despatch of balance from
America.
Lara. 3. Will be delivered.
Lara. 4. The 60 miles of track should reach you by end of December
though actual dates of sailings from East Africa are not yet known.
Lara. 5. Will be delivered.
Laras. 6 and 7. Question has been referred to War Office regarding supply
of these.
Following to Secretary, War Office only.
The additional rolling stock demanded in paras. 6 and 7, cannot be spared
from India.
It seems doubtful if this will be needed for military purposes in Meso
potamia in view of existing situation.
