Content

A copy of two letters from Bombay Castle to Mocha, dated 8 and 20 March 1722 [8 and 20 March 1723 New Style dates], examined by F D, and received via the ship Caesar on 1 March 1722 [New Style date 1 March 1723].

The first letter, of 8 March, concerns matters relating to the following: shipping; goods from Europe; investments in goods for sale in Europe; the trade of India, and dealings with the Imaum [Imam] and the Governor of Mocha; paving stones being sent on the ship Stanhope for the paving of the warehouse used for storing coffee at Mocha; factors, writers, officers and soldiers of the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. , and the accounts they have sent to Bombay.

The second letter, dated 20 March, concerns ships despatched to Mocha, and includes an instruction to return the ships to Bombay with full loads of coffee.
