A copy of a general letter from Bombay Castle to Robert Cowan and the factors at Mocha, dated 13 December 1723.
The letter discusses matters including: ships which had arrived and which had been dispatched; goods received from Europe; investments in coffee and other goods for sale; the trade of the East India Company with Mocha, and relations with the local government in the form of the Imaum [Imam], and the Governors of Mocha and Beetlefuckee [Bayt al Faqīh]; and factors and writers of the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. , and the Factory An East India Company trading post. accounts. The letter transfers the post of 'Chief' to Robert Cowan from John Sarson (the latter having been suspended for mismanagement).
It was received via the ship Prince Augustus , 1 April 1725.
