The volumes contain papers relating to the East India Company’s factory An East India Company trading post. at Mocha.

The papers include letters, mainly the following: letters from the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. to the East India Company’s Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. ; copies of letters from the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. to the Bombay Factory An East India Company trading post. , to which the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. was subordinate; and copies of letters from the Bombay Factory An East India Company trading post. to the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. .

The papers also include accounts, such as monthly Steward’s accounts of expenditure, and accounts of Factory An East India Company trading post. charges. Other documents include: lists of the covenanted servants, menial servants and soldiers of the Factory An East India Company trading post. , and their respective salaries; and lists of ships which had arrived at, and which had departed from, Mocha.

The file consists of three volumes: Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. The papers are arranged in approximate chronological order by date of creation from the front of Part 1 to the rear of Part 3.
