5. AN AGREEMENT WITH THE PERSIAN GOVERNMENT
THROUGH GREAT BRITAIN which will guarantee Tor our
people safety of life and property for all time, and
the enjoyment of religious liberty.
6. THAT PROTECTION BE GUARANTEED TO THE MEMBERS
OF THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE and the leaders of the
people, on whose shoulders devolved the management
of National affairs, who became conspicuous in
the eyes of the Moslems and incurred the special
enmity of the Kurds and Mohammedans of urumia ~
the latter are pro-Turkish and of the pan-Islamic
movement.
7. EXEMPTION FROM THE MCHAMVIEDAN LAW, which
in its nature is categorically opposed to our
religious, social and industrial liberty and
development. During the last 30 years some
improvements in legal matters were deemed necessary
and some privileges were granted by ’the Persian
Government, which gave us our own Lav/ Courts or
"Legal Boards”. These Boards had regular sittings
where they discussed and settled legal questions
with great success and without any conflict with
the local authorities, when disputes between
Christians and Moslems arose, a joint commission was
created by common agreement, which decided the question
to the satisfaction of both parties concerned. We
desire this to be strengthened and its scope en
larged.
8. THAT ASSYRIANS SHOULD HAVE REPRESENTATION IN
VARIOUS BRANCHES OF THE GOVERNMENT IN URUMIA. The
representatives should be elected by the people

Included in the correspondence are letters from Surma Khanin D’Mar Shimun describing the situation of the camp and asking for changes to the camp, and for the return of the Assyrians and Armenians. In addition, there are some inquiries received by British officials from Christian Assyrians. Also mentioned are the following: the ‘Christian Army of Revenge’, French propaganda among the Assyrians, Assyrio-Chaldean [Assyro-Chaldeans] refugees in Russia, and the American Mission.
