This volume contains letters sent to and from the East India Company Factory An East India Company trading post. at Bussorah [Basra] between 18 July 1790 and 22 November 1792, and covers the following:

• The journey undertaken by Harford Jones Brydges to Persia [Iran] for the ‘benefit of his health’
• The termination of the dispute subsisting between the British and Spanish courts through a convention
• The passage of Lieutenant Henry Fox Calcraft and William Baxter from Latackia [Latakia] to Bombay [Mumbai]
• The negotiations of the French with the Imaum [Imam] to establish a factory An East India Company trading post. in Muscat
• The reception of Shaik Swiney [Shaikh Thuwaynī bin ‘Abdullāh al-Sa‘dūn] at the Bacha [Pāshā’s] court in Bagdad [Baghdad]
• The resolution of the dispute between the House of Austria and the Ottoman Porte
