This item consists of copies of correspondence, minutes, and consultations cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. to the East India Company Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. . These political letters appear in IOR/F/4/2550/149197. It is the fifteenth in a series of sixteen items on the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .

The correspondents are: the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. ; the Government of India; Captain Arnold Burrowes Kemball, Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. ; Major Atkins Hamerton, HM Consul and the Company’s Agent in the Dominions of the Imam of Muskat [Muscat]; and Sheikh Sultan ben Suggar, chief of Rusulkhymah [Shaikh Sulṭān I bin Ṣaqr al-Qāsimī One of the ruling families of the United Arab Emirates; also used to refer to a confederation of seafaring Arabs led by the Qāsimī tribe from Ras al Khaima. , Ruler of Ra’s al-Khaymah].
