285. The Commission recommend that family pensions to heirs he granted

286. It is recommended that service towards pension should count from date w
first appointment to rank of aspiran. Service in the ranks in non-commissioned
grades should count in full towards an officer s pension, service in the ranks below
n.c.o. not being counted.

Pensions and Gratuities for N.C.Os. and Rank and File.
Retirement Pensions.
287. The Commission recommend that n.c.os. and men who have completed
twenty years’ service should be eligible to receive a pension at the rate of one-fortietl
of their average pay for the last three years multiplied by the number of years’ service,
but in no case less than 30 krans per month.
Disablernent Pensions,
288. The Commission recommend that there should be two classes, with time
scales in each, of disablement pensions, as in the case of officers, and that the rates
should be as follows :—
Class I, Scale A. —Pension equivalent to pay of rank held at time of disablement,
with a minimum of krans 40 per mensem.
Class I, Scale B .—Pension equivalent to two-thirds of pay of rank held at dated
disablement, with a minimum of krans 20 per mensem, or, if more favourable
the retiring pension to which he may be entitled under paragraph 287.
Class I, Scale C. —The retiring pension to which he may be entitled under para
graph 287, or, if not so entitled, a gratuity of one year’s pay.
Class. II, Scale A. —Pension equivalent to one-half pay of rank held at dataaf
invaliding, with a minimum of krans 30 per mensem.
Class II, Scale B .—If of over ten years’ service, pension equal to one-third ppi
rank held at date of invaliding ; if under ten years’ service, gratuity of oue
year’s pay.
Class II, Scale C. If over ten years’ service, gratuity of one year’s pay; if
ten years’ service, gratuity of six months’ pay.
Family Pensions.
289. The Commission recommend that family pensions or gratuities be issued to
the heirs of n.c.os. and men on the same conditions, in three scales, as recommended
ior officers. Phe rates to be as follows :—
Scale 1 .
Pension —Equivalent to three-fourths pay of rank held by deceased on day of
death, with a minimum of krans 30 per mensem.
Scale 2 .
Gratuity.- Equivalent to one year’s pay and one month’s pay in addition for eveif
year s service over three years.
Scale 3.
Gratuity.—Equal to one year’s pension.
