A copy of a letter from Dr John Cormick, Chief Physician to the Crown Prince of Persia [Iran], to Henry Willock, HM Charge d’Affaires in Persia, sent from Tabreez [Tabrīz] and dated 23 October 1824.
Cormick reports that he read Willock’s message to the Prince ['Abbās Mīrzā A title of honour originally applied to princes, later to military leaders, and later still to secretaries, chieftains, and other ‘gentlemen’. ] concerning the proposed transfer to India of responsibility for diplomatic relations between Britain and Persia (IOR/L/PS/9/69/227). The Prince affirms his support and advises on how to advance the proposal at the Persian Court.
The letter was enclosed in Willock’s letter to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company dated 16 November 1824 (IOR/L/PS/9/69/238).
