1599. AH applications by Divisional and Corps Commanders, and O.C. Ahwaz,
for Ordnance Stores and Equipment in excess of authorised scales, should in future
be submitted to Director of Ordnance Services, G.H.Q.
RATIONS
1600. Reference Force Routine Order No. 1224, of 1915. The issue of fuel to
native ratings of the Inland Water Transport, while employed on land, is sanctioned
on the scale laid down for Indian Troops.
SADDLERY.
OFFICERS’
1601. In continuation of Force Routine Order No. 1340 current.
1. Saddlery, the property of mounted officers, will not be taken over by the
Ordnance Department at a valuation.
2. Mounted officers who have provided themselves with saddlery at their own
expense will be entitled to have it, kept up at the public expense, and on leaving the
Expeditionary Force will be allowed (if no longer in possession of the saddlery origin
ally provided by them) to take away, as their own property, a serviceable set of Service
saddlery.
3. Mounted officers who have not provided themselves with saddlery will be issued
with a set of Service pattern saddlery at the public expense. These officers will not
be allowed to take saddlery with them on leaving the Expeditionary Force.
4. Compensation for the excess value of private saddlery over that of Service
pattern cannot be authorised
5 Saddlery required under para. 3 will be demanded on indent from the Ordnance
Department in the usual manner. The name of the officer requiring the saddlery will
be stated on the indent. Issue will only be made from the Base Depot, where a record
will be kept of all officers so supplied.
Officers returning saddlery, on leaving the Expeditionary Force, should be careful
, Hair a receipt from the Ordnance Department, otherwise they will be liable to be
charged for the value of the saddlery issued to them.
