Captain R. Greig, 42nd Deoli Regiment, to be Adjutant “A” Section, Indian t
nase Depot, vice Captain A. H. H. Muir, 15th Sikhs; with effect from 28th June, 1916,
forenoon.
(w) The following appointment is sanctioned:—
Major E. S. Percy-Sir/ith (Supernumary List), attached 12th Cavalry, to be
, rmcipal Provost Marshal, I.E.F. “D,” vice Lieut-Colonel F. C. K. Macmullen ; with
effect from 2nd July, 1916, forenoon.

2nd-Lieutenant J. R. Davidson, I.A.R.O., 2nd Special Service Officer, with
lehn Garhwal Imperial Services Sappers and Miners, is temporarily appointed to
command Sappers and Miners Section, Indian General Base Depot, in addition to his 4 *
other duties, vice Captain I). McA. Hogg. R.E., appointed Company Commander,
No. 13 Company, 2nd Sappers and Miners; with effect from 1st July, 1916
1040. The following officiating appointment is made: —
Captain R. C. Loverock, 1st Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light
Infantry, A.E.S O , to officiate as A.E S.O. (graded as D.A.Q.M.G.), in addition to his
own duties, vice Captain G. E. Whittall, 1st Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire
Light Infantry, invalided; with effect from 23rd June, 1916.
COMPENSATION
1041. The Chief Political Officer is authorised to pay compensation as below to
the undernoted persons in full settlement of their claims in respect of Mahelas
requisitioned for use on the Tigris:—

ENQUIRIES
REGARDING
PACKAGES, ETC.
1042 Units or individuals making any enquiries about packages, etc., consigned
to them from India should, when possible, intimate the name of the ship in which
despatched to the Base Supply Officer.
RATIONS 1043. The scales of rations published with Force Routine Order No. 898 of 9th
June, 1916, are re-grouped as shown below, and the following are the definitions of the
terms used:—
% (f). Field ifeRffm.—The authorised normal rations issuable every day, so far as
available (this has recently been considerably augmented)
(n). Extras .—These are extra stimulating or health giving rations, to be ordered
(provided they are available) by the Commander on the spot for special climatic or
medical reasons, or on account of extra and unusual fatigues undergone by the troops.
(m). Ordinary Substitutes .—Is a scale at which certain items in the Field Ration,
or Extras when ordered, may be varied (provided they are available) at the wish of the
Commander of a unit drawing rations, or by the O.C. Supplies issuing them, when out
of stock of certain items.

Physical characteristics

Foliation: this file consists of two physical volumes. The foliation sequence (used for referencing) commences at the first folio of volume one (ff 1-188) and terminates at the last folio of volume two (ff 189-378); these numbers are printed and are located in the top right corner of the recto The front of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'r'. side of each folio.
