This item contains strength returns from units of the British Army and Royal Air Force in British India, as well as forces deployed in Persia [Iran], the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. ports, and Aden, issued by the Adjutant-General in India.

The strength returns list the number of personnel serving with military branches and individual units as of 1 January 1921, grouped under the following categories:

  • ‘Regular Forces’
  • ‘Auxiliary Force – India’
  • ‘Military Police and Levies’
  • ‘Imperial Service Troops’
