(5) Shura Anticline and J. Kibritiyah.
A low anticline with axis N. W.—S. E. exists a little west of Shura and is traceable to
J. Kibritiyah, where it probably rises to a crest.
Prospects :—
The Shura anticline is too low to be of value, but J. Kibritiyah may be of value and will be
examined later.
Anticlinal axes have been traced in two places. The northern axis rises to the N. W. and the
anticline merges into a region of horizontal strata. The southern axis has a distinct crest maximum
and at this point is a fairly regular anticline. Near the Tigris the structure is locally complicated
by sharp folding, causing a second crest maximum.
Prospects :—
Seepages occur in three places in the southern anticlinal area and seveial otheis aie known
in the neighbourhood. The southern axis being roughly domal can be considered as favourable
territory.
