With reference to your telegram 77755. The following is a repetition of my
X.-77°5. Begins :—

Your 76471 A. G.-i of October 14th.
I am reducing the number of my battalions ; am engaged in operations
and a proportion of my battalions are of lesser breeds. As Gurkha battalions will
have to go shortly 1 trust that you will ask for increase in drafts for other Indian
Regiments to compensate for this.
The position is quite understood. Ends,
