tactical role in front of this Force, l have recommended and agreed to reduction
of Artillery of the post helium army originally sanctioned by 3 heavy, 8 field

to have two additional Mountain Batteries,
of which the Battery in N. W. Persia was to be considered one, that is I want
one Mountain Battery early but, knowing that Mountain Artillery in India is in
great demand, I offered to form provisional battery here. The surplus I refer to
(are?) Indian Field Battery drivers and good gunners, the latter being adjusted
amongst batteries. I have both equipment and mules. I make this proposal
with the more weight as l have been in the Indian Mountain Artillery for several
y^ars.

Trouble now appears to be confined to a sma 11 lawless tribe, stirred by
propaganda whose neighbours are not supporting them. The scene of the
murder is somewhat inaccessible but a small mixed force will have to go ther®
to clear the matter up and a small column is now moving in that direction.
