Following telegram received from Secretary, War Office, Begins, 19953
Cipher D. S. T., July 25th. Your 1551-45-Q. (By, No. 67534), in reply to
10320 from Secretary, War Office, has been received.
Please telegraph full scale of rations now in force and state whether
troops are actually in receipt of full scale to-day. If not, in what particular
issues (?) the shortage occurs. Ends.
My answer to above wire will be telegraphed to you this day.

Following from Marsh, August 5th, T. L. 351. It is reported by Agents
that Mosul garrison has been increased. The Turks are spreading a rumour
in Kurdistan of an early advance in strength eastwards from Mosul. In Yan
region on July 23rd a column strength about one battalion and four squad
rons was seen moving to Markhus, 11 versts south of Botan, another column
consisting of 1| battalions and 2 guns was moving on Sakiz, and a
third column, whose strength was not know n, was also reported moving to latter
place.
My telegram No. 347 of 2nd, N. T. W. S. It has been ascertained from
prisoners taken at Oghnat that the (whole of) ? 1st Division and list Regi
ment of 14th Division are in Oghnat area.

The volume contains a chronological list of brief summaries of papers relating to the activities of the Indian Expeditionary Force D (also known as the Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force) between 1 and 15 August 1916. This is accompanied by appendices containing copies and extracts of these papers, which include letters, telegrams, and appreciations [reports] from the Directorate of Military Operations.
