2550-M. R. 3, February 3rd. Begins. Your telegram January 28th, 322 (N. R.
W. S.) Government now negotiating with Lord Inchcape as representing firms
interested in India, Burma, Mesopotamia, on the basis of handing over as many
vessels as possible at once, leaving repairs, preparations for voyage, etc., to
firms concerned with any dockyard assistance, we can afford. Prices suggested
are those at which craft originally purchased with allowances made for any
improvements or otherwise, therefore again investigate positim at once,
telegraph at once list of craft with your prices, which can be actually offered
now on these conditions after meeting all military requirements. Lists
should include all vessels, Government or otherwise, which could safely be dis
posed of at once, in addition to craft obtained fromlrrawady Flotilla Company,
India General Navigation and Railway Company, River Steam Navigation
Company and Euphrates and Tigris Steam Navigation Company, Margil, in
order to take advantage of present opportunities for disposing of surplus fleet
