At a rough estimate 17,500 army transport mules and 4,500 army trans
port carts, wooden, will be available for return to India during the next, 6
months after deducting our requirements. What is the policy regarding dispo
sal of surplus army transport carts. Should they be overhauled before bein"
despatched or disposed of in this country, mostly wooden carts of obsolete
pattern. Information required in order to estimate number of artificers of
transport units and depots to be retained during the next 6 months.
