You should assume that the following will be the establishment of the
artillery for each Division in Mesopotamia. This is provisional only, pending
result of a detailed examination of future war establishments which is now
proceeding :—
(а) Headquarters Divisional Artillery.
(б) One battery of six 4-5-inch howitzers and two field artillery
brigades each three 6 gun 18-pdr. batteries.
(c) One Indian Mountain Artillery Brigade of two 6-gun 2‘75 batteries
and one battery of six 3*7 howitzers.

(Dy. No. 6512) to the address of the Chief of the General Staff, regardin 0 th
retention by the 114th Mahrattas of a Lewis gun as a trophy m conoiderati
of the gallant part played by this unit in certain operations in Mesopotamia, I
am directed to say that in view of your recommendations it has been decided
to accede to the request of the Officer Commanding. I am to request that the
gun may be rendered unfit for firing marked. with the units designation and
sent to the Kirkee Arsenal to await being claimed by the unit.
