WAR, DIARY.
Summary of events.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D ”, said that India’s presumption that none of the spare
guns were Vickers was correct. 1
ludia was informed by General Officer Commanding, Force “D”, that the duplicate peace
despatches were despatched by mail on 10th February.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D ”, intimated the necessity, on medical grounds of
reducing the number ot troops on the Khanikin-Hamadan road.
The Inspector General of Communications, Basrah, where the 1st Australian wireless should
arrive at Bombay.
The Director of Ordnance Stores, Base, Alexandria, said that Egypt did not require the spare 300
Russian ammunition from Force “ D ”.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D ”, gave his reasons for proposing the permanent inclu
sion of a section of howitzer in mountain batteries.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D ”, intimated his intention of returning the Signal Park
in his force to serve in post war garrison.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D ”, Baghdad, expressed his views on the disadvantages
of the then present emergency ration for Indian Troops and enclosed detailed list of his
suggestions for a substitute.
The Deputy Director, Supply and Transport, Delhi, explained the difficulties to be contended with
in the packing of stores for Mesopotamia and he hoped for remedies.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D ”, Baghdad, sanctioned certain remount depots for
demobilization purposes.
The Inland Water Transport strength return for the week ending February, the 8th, was received
from the Director, Inland Water Transport, Basrah.
