that owing to heavy demands on India for frontier roads demobilization, etc.,
we cannot now supply any of the fourteen rollers asked for. Under these
circumstances arrangements should he made hy you to obtain your require
ments from England.

tion please ask Dr. Eilis to inform Civil Commissioner, Baghdad, of his probable
date of arrival and probable duration of stay. I hope he will be my guest
during bis visit to Mesopotamia and I shall be pleased to give him every facility
to visit places of interest.

My telegram, January 23rd, 940 (Diary No. 6602), 13 individuals who have
been ringleaders in recent political intrigue in Baghdad were arrested to-day.
They are all ^-Turkish officials recently arrived from Musal and include
several members of C. U. P.
They will be sent to India for internment. Their continued retention in
Bombay is open to objection and as their return to Mesopotamians in no case
desired I would suggest that they should be sent to Egypt on arrival Bombay
to be handed over at Constantinople for custody to Turkish Government who
themselves arrested 30 members of C. U. P. on January 30th.
