The General OfBcer Commanding, Force “ D, ” proposed to lay down a 2' 6" line from the standard
gauge rail head for a distance of 46 miles towards Mosal in order to relieve the road transport
which supplied Mosal and posts on the road.
The telegraphic ration strength on January 11th was received from the Deputy Adjutant-General,
3rd Echolon, Busrah.
The statements showing the strengths of the various contingents serving in Force “ D ” on 23rd
November were received from the Deputy Adjutant-General, 3rd Echelon, Basrah.
The General Officer Commanding, Force “ D, ” su ggested certain organisation for Engineering
Services in Mesopotamia.

Colonel Maxwell intimated his arrival at Basrah in connection with the cataloguing of rivercraft and
