Home correspondence of the East India Company (EIC) with Lord Halifax [George Montagu-Dunk, 2nd Earl of Halifax], Secretary of State for the Northern Department, with an enclosed letter to Mr Henry Grenville, His Majesty’s Ambassador at Constantinople [Istanbul]. The correspondence is concerned with the dispute between the EIC and the Bashaw An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders.
