It.will doubtless be borne in mind by His MajestVs Government that
several thousand Arab prisoners of war during the next four months will
be repatriated to Mesopotamia including some of the worst characters in
the country and fanatical pro-Turks, also several hundred ex-Turkish offi
cials of Arab race wlio were anvsted on account of their anti-British procli
vities. Their arrival will of course be the source of no lirtle embarrassment
The problem however has to be faced : during the period of reconstruction any
lack of definiteness m our status, policy, or aims in this country will add to
difficulties of this administration.

It has been ascertained that Cingalee M. T. Company could probably
be raised, but doubfly doubtful whether men would enrol and they would
have to be engag' d on special terms. To meet requirements 10 Ford Van
Companies, Indian Dr vers for .3 companies already been sent and those
foi another company sail about 28th November, while those for 3 more
aie under training. Burma lord Van Companies which are under trainin 0 *
will man remaining three companies. Suggest proposal to raise Cingalee
Company should be dropped in view of above circumstances.
